Born in Cardiff in 1945, he is married to Linda for over 41 years with 3 daughters and 10 grandchildren. Educated at the Cathedral School, Llandaff where he was a full-time Cathedral Chorister. He trained as a baritone at the College of Music and Drama, Cardiff, singing in the chorus of the Welsh National Opera Company as well as performing solo work with the Cardiff Police Choir.

 
During David’s career he was part of the launch of the UK’s 3rd commercial radio station, 194 Radio City in Liverpool, spent 7 years in ITV sales before moving in to the advertising agency world. As Managing Director of FCB Pasley Wood, London (world's 3rd largest DM agency), he was one of the pioneers of direct marketing in Europe, commuting daily from Bristol to London by rail for over 10 years. As a direct marketing specialist, he has lectured all over the world and was a regular keynote speaker for the Institute of Direct Marketing in the USA, Canada and UK.
 
More recently, he was Marketing and Foundation Director of Clifton College, Bristol. David now runs his own Gas Safe Registered gas engineering business from Portishead. He has been a Town Councillor for 11 years and a North Somerset Councillor for 3 years serving Coast Ward that includes the Lake Grounds and a large part of Nore Road and surrounding area. He has been instrumental in setting up two Local Action Teams for Portishead, working in partnership with the Local Constabulary to tackle law and order related problems in the Town. He is a trustee of the Citizens Advice Bureau, Vice Chair of the Planning and Economic Development Scrutiny Panel for North Somerset Council, a member of the North Somerset Drainage Board and one of 3 NSC councillors who sit on the West of England Scrutiny Committee. David campaigned for 4 years to turn off the traffic lights at Cabstand and is a constant campaigner to bring back the railway to Portishead.
 
His interests include photography, boating, cooking, walking his dog and renovating the cottage where he and his wife live in Coast Ward. A strong family man, one of his greatest joys is spending time with his wife and family.
