I have lived in Portishead since 1976. My children attended playschools at Avonway Hall and Redcliffe Bay Hall following by High Down Infant and Junior Schools, Gordano School and then University. They are now working.
During my working life I have worked in the City of London, Chelmsford and Witham in Essex, Bristol and Portishead. I now work part-time in Clevedon.
I have travelled to work by tube, train, bus and car and so am aware of the frustrations and problems of commuting.
I was elected as a Liberal Democrat Town Councillor for West Ward in a by-election in June 2001 and currently represent the Town Council on the Redcliffe Bay Hall Management Committee. I am an LEA appointed Governor at High Down Infant School and am currently Chair of the Governors and a member of the Premises and Health and Safety Committee and the Policy Committee.
My other activities include – Senior Steward at Redcliffe Bay Methodist Church, Trustee of the Bristol Trust for the Deaf, Member of the National Trust, Member of the National Womens Register (for lively minded women) and a past committee member of the Redcliffe Bay Friends of Guiding.
