Welcome from the new Chairman of the Council
It is with great pride that I accepted the honour of becoming the Chairman of Portishead and North Weston Town Council for the year 2010/2011. I would like to take this opportunity of outlining what I hope will be an eventful year.
We have a great range of activities available within this town which people of all ages participate and I would like to bring all these activities under one roof, Somerset Hall, so that all the residents of this town, both old and new, can see the wealth of activities this town has to offer. This event will also incorporate the "Meet the Councillors" sessions which was so successful last year. I do hope that everyone in the town will participate in this event to make it a success.
Each year the Town Council produces a Christmas card. This year I want to invite all the junior/primary schools to participate in putting forward their drawing of "Christmas in Portishead” one of which will be used on the front of the Town`s Christmas card.
I wish to hold a Civic Evening where we can emphasis the many things that people and organisations in this town do to make it a great place to live. This event will be held early in 2011.
These events will all be dependant on the help and co-operation of many people and I hope, in the spirit that I know to be within this town, that it will be forthcoming.
All the above points are in addition to the many functions which the Chairman is asked to attend and where I will have the opportunity to tell people what we have achieved and what we hope to achieve in the future.
